From thesis to invalidation
A useful thesis explains both why a setup may matter and what evidence would prove the reasoning weaker.
- ✓ Write a falsifiable claim
- ✓ Separate price targets from evidence
- ✓ Define observable weakening conditions
- ✓ Decide review timing in advance
Build the thesis
Use a short structure: current context, material change, supporting evidence, unresolved questions, and the next validation step.
Make it falsifiable
Avoid vague claims that can explain every outcome. A good thesis can be weakened by specific, observable evidence.
Define invalidation
Invalidation is not simply discomfort or a temporary loss. It is evidence that contradicts the reason for the setup, such as a failed catalyst, lost participation, or broken assumption.
Plan the follow-up
Choose when the evidence should be reviewed again—after a filing, earnings call, closed candle, volume confirmation, or another defined event.
